Summary:

Vulnerabilities exist in EMC AlphaStor that could potentially be exploited by a malicious user. These vulnerabilities could lead to remote code execution.


Details:

The Device Manager (rrobotd.exe) in EMC AlphaStor is vulnerable to following vulnerabilities:

Command Injection Vulnerability (CVE-2013-0928)
The Device Manager (rrobotd.exe) in EMC AlphaStor is vulnerable to command injection via DCP “run command” when processing a set of limited Networker commands on behalf of an unauthenticated remote user.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 9.3 (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)

Format String Vulnerability (CVE-2013-0929)
_vsnsprintf function in the Device Manager (rrobotd.exe) is vulnerable to format string vulnerability when processing incoming commands.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 7.6 (AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C)

These vulnerabilities could be exploited by a remote unauthenticated malicious user and may lead to remote code execution.


Resolution:

The following EMC AlphaStor product contains a resolution to this issue:
EMC AlphaStor 4.0 build 800 and later


EMC strongly recommends all customers upgrade to above build at the earliest opportunity.
