DESCRIPTION:
A security issue and two vulnerabilities have been discovered in
Greenstone, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct
cross-site scripting attacks and disclose sensitive information.
1) The security issue is caused due to the /etc/users.gdb database
file being stored with insecure permissions inside the web root. This
can be exploited to disclose e.g. the administrator's password by
downloading the file.
2) Input passed to the "c" parameter in cgi-bin/library.cgi (when "a"
is set to "status" and "p" is set to "collectioninfo") is not properly
sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to
execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in
context of an affected site.
3) Input passed to the "p" parameter in cgi-bin/library.cgi (when "a"
is set to "status") is not properly sanitised before being returned to
the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script
code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
The security issue and vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.85.
Other versions may also be affected.
