DESCRIPTION:
Kelvin Tan has discovered two vulnerabilities in World of Phaos,
which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion
attacks and by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting
attacks.
1) Input passed e.g. via the "username" parameter to prefs.php is not
properly sanitised in config.php before being returned to the user.
This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a
user's browser session in context of an affected site.
2) Input passed via the "subject" parameter to message.php (when
"action" is set to "compose2") when sending a message is not properly
sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited to
insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a
user's browser session in context of an affected site when the
malicious data is viewed.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 0.9.82-UPDATED-5. Other
versions may also be affected.
