DESCRIPTION:
Zhao Liang has discovered some vulnerabilities in Winmail Server,
which can be exploited by malicious users and malicious people to
conduct script insertion attacks.
1) Input passed via the "monitorname" parameter to admin/main.php
(when "dest" is set to "mailmonitor") and the "signname" parameter to
admin/main.php (when "dest" is set to "mailsign") is not properly
sanitised before being displayed to the user. This can be exploited
to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a
user's browser session in context of an affected site when the
malicious data is viewed.
Successful exploitation requires access rights to setup "Mail
Monitoring" or "Mail Signature".
2) Input passed via the subject of an email is not properly sanitised
before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and
script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in
context of an affected site if malicious data is viewed.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 5.0 Build 0620. Other
versions may also be affected.
