DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in IBM Hardware Management Console
(HMC) and IBM Systems Director Management Console (SDMC), which can
be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to an input sanitisation error when
handling viosrvcmd commands and can be exploited to execute arbitrary
shell commands with root privileges.
The vulnerability is reported in the following products and
versions:
* IBM Hardware Management Console (HMC) V7 R3.5.0 prior to SP4, V7
R7.1.0 and V7 R7.2.0 prior to SP3, and V7 R7.3.0 prior to SP2.
* IBM Systems Director Management Console (SDMC) V6 R7.3.0 prior to
SP2.
SOLUTION:
Apply update or service packs.
