DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in NSD, which can be exploited by
malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due a NULL-pointer dereference error when
handling DNS packets in the "query_add_optional()" function (query.c)
and can be exploited to cause a child server process to crash and
subsequently stop the server from responding by sending specially
crafted DNS packets.
The vulnerability is reported in versions 3.0.0 through 3.0.8, 3.1.0
through 3.1.1, and 3.2.0 through 3.2.11.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 3.2.12 or apply patch (please see the vendor's
advisory for details).
