DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been discovered in Norman Security Suite, which
can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated
privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the nprosec.sys driver
when processing the 0x00220210 IOCTL and can be exploited to write
certain data into arbitrary kernel memory.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code with
SYSTEM privileges.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 8.00. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Apply updates, fix was released October 3, 2011.
