DESCRIPTION:
Secunia Research has discovered two vulnerabilities in UUSee, which
can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
1) A boundary error in the UUPlayer ActiveX control when handling the
"SendLogAction()" method can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer
overflow via an overly long argument.
2) An input validation error in the UUPlayer ActiveX control when
handling the "Play()" method can be exploited to execute an arbitrary
program via a UNC path passed in the "MPlayerPath" parameter.
Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities allows execution of
arbitrary code.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2010 6.11.0609.2
bundling UUPlayer.ocx version 6.0.0.1. Other versions may also be
affected.
SOLUTION:
Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
