SpamTitan 7.07 Command Injection
Posted Jan 5, 2021
Authored by Christophe de la Fuente, Felipe Molina | Site metasploit.com

This Metasploit module exploits an improper input sanitization in SpamTitan versions 7.01, 7.02, 7.03 and 7.07 to inject command directives into the SNMP configuration file and get remote code execution as root. Note that only version 7.03 needs authentication and no authentication is required for versions 7.01, 7.02 and 7.07.

Cisco Security Advisory 20120530-iosxr-2
Posted Aug 15, 2012
Authored by Cisco Systems | Site cisco.com

Cisco Security Advisory - Cisco IOS XR Software contains a vulnerability when handling crafted packets that may result in a denial of service condition. The vulnerability only exists on Cisco 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers (ASR) Route Switch Processor (RSP-4G and RSP-8G), Route Switch Processor 440 (RSP440), and Cisco Carrier Routing System (CRS) Performance Route Processor (PRP). The vulnerability is a result of improper handling of crafted packets and could cause the route processor, which processes the packets, to be unable to transmit packets to the fabric. Cisco has released free software updates that address this vulnerability.

An integer overflow flaw was found in the i915_gem_execbuffer2() function in the Intel i915 driver in the Linux kernel. A local, unprivileged user could use this flaw to cause a denial of service. This issue only affected 32-bit systems. A missing initialization flaw was found in the sco_sock_getsockopt_old() function in the Linux kernel's Bluetooth implementation. A local, unprivileged user could use this flaw to cause an information leak.

Fwknop Port Knocking Utility 2.0.1
Posted Jul 24, 2012
Authored by Michael Rash | Site cipherdyne.org

fwknop implements an authorization scheme that requires only a single encrypted packet to communicate various pieces of information, including desired access through a Netfilter policy and/or specific commands to execute on the target system. The main application of this program is to protect services such as SSH with an additional layer of security in order to make the exploitation of vulnerabilities much more difficult. The authorization server works by passively monitoring authorization packets via libpcap.

Changes: Various bug fixes including several minor memory leaks. Added parsing of valgrind output to produce a listing of functions that have been flagged. Various other tweaks.

Windows Escalate Task Scheduler XML Privilege Escalation
Posted Jul 19, 2012
Authored by jduck | Site metasploit.com

This Metasploit module exploits the Task Scheduler 2.0 XML 0day exploited by Stuxnet. When processing task files, the Windows Task Scheduler only uses a CRC32 checksum to validate that the file has not been tampered with. Also, In a default configuration, normal users can read and write the task files that they have created. By modifying the task file and creating a CRC32 collision, an attacker can execute arbitrary commands with SYSTEM privileges.

John The Ripper 1.7.9 Jumbo 6
Posted Jul 2, 2012
Authored by Solar Designer | Site openwall.com

John the Ripper is a fast password cracker, currently available for many flavors of Unix, Windows, DOS, BeOS, and OpenVMS. Its primary purpose is to detect weak Unix passwords. It supports several crypt(3) password hash types commonly found on Unix systems, as well as Windows LM hashes. On top of this, many other hash types are added with contributed patches, and some are added in John the Ripper Pro.

Changes: CUDA and OpenCL support has been added. Support for Mac OS X keychains, KeePass 1.x, Password Safe, ODF and Office 2007/2010 files, Firefox/Thunderbird master passwords, RAR -p, WPA-PSK, VNC and SIP C/Rs, HMAC-SHA-*, RACF, builtin SHA-crypt, DragonFly BSD SHA-2, Django, Drupal 7, WoltLab BB3, new EPiServer, GOST, and LinkedIn raw SHA-1 has been added, with OpenMP, CUDA, and/or OpenCL for many of these. Optimizations have been made and OpenMP/CUDA/OpenCL added for many of the previously-supported (non-)hashes. AMD XOP is now used for MD4/MD5/SHA-1. Many main program features and tiny new programs have been added.

Apple QuickTime TeXML Stack Buffer Overflow
Posted Jun 29, 2012
Authored by sinn3r, Alexander Gavrun, juan vazquez | Site metasploit.com

This Metasploit module exploits a vulnerability found in Apple QuickTime. When handling a TeXML file, it is possible to trigger a stack-based buffer overflow, and then gain arbitrary code execution under the context of the user. The flaw is generally known as a bug while processing the 'transform' attribute, however, that attack vector seems to only cause a TerminateProcess call due to a corrupt stack cookie, and more data will only trigger a warning about the malformed XML file. This Metasploit module exploits the 'color' value instead, which accomplishes the same thing.

Mod_auth_pubtkt 0.8
Posted Jun 28, 2012
Site neon1.net

mod_auth_pubtkt is a simple Web single sign-on (SSO) solution for Apache. It validates authentication tickets provided by the client in a cookie using public-key cryptography (DSA or RSA). Thus, only the login server that generates the tickets needs to possess the private key, while Web servers can verify tickets given only the public key. The implementation of the login server is left to the user, but an example and a library in PHP are provided with the distribution.

Changes: A new option and corresponding field in the ticket ("bauth") make it possible to specify the Basic authorization username/password in the ticket (e.g., when reverse proxying to a third party system which cannot use mod_auth_pubtkt). The credentials can optionally be encrypted in the ticket.

Tor-ramdisk i686 UClibc-based Linux Distribution x86 20120622
Posted Jun 23, 2012
Authored by Anthony G. Basile | Site opensource.dyc.edu

Tor-ramdisk is an i686 uClibc-based micro Linux distribution whose only purpose is to host a Tor server in an environment that maximizes security and privacy. Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. Security is enhanced by employing a monolithically compiled GRSEC/PAX patched kernel and hardened system tools. Privacy is enhanced by turning off logging at all levels so that even the Tor operator only has access to minimal information. Finally, since everything runs in ephemeral memory, no information survives a reboot, except for the Tor configuration file and the private RSA key which may be exported/imported by FTP. x86 version.

Changes: Tor was updated to 0.2.2.37, BusyBox to 1.20.1, and the kernel to 3.4.2 plus Gentoo's hardened-patches-3.4.2-2.extras. The MIPS port also incorporated these changes, but for this architecture the kernel was kept at vanilla 3.2.5.

Red Hat Security Advisory 2012-0973-04 - Network Security Services is a set of libraries designed to support the cross-platform development of security-enabled client and server applications. Netscape Portable Runtime provides platform independence for non-GUI operating system facilities. It was found that a Certificate Authority issued a subordinate CA certificate to its customer, that could be used to issue certificates for any name. This update renders the subordinate CA certificate as untrusted. Note: This fix only applies to applications using the NSS Builtin Object Token. It does not render the certificates untrusted for applications that use the NSS library, but do not use the NSS Builtin Object Token.

Red Hat Security Advisory 2012-0958-04 - The sos package contains a set of tools that gather information from system hardware, logs and configuration files. The information can then be used for diagnostic purposes and debugging. The sosreport utility collected the Kickstart configuration file, but did not remove the root user's password from it before adding the file to the resulting archive of debugging information. An attacker able to access the archive could possibly use this flaw to obtain the root user's password. "/root/anaconda-ks.cfg" usually only contains a hash of the password, not the plain text password.
